The Democratic Party is the party of political violence

To an increasing number of Democrats, stopping Trump and “saving democracy” means canceling the constitution and silencing Trump — by any means necessary.

A poll conducted by the Center for Strategic Politics found “Democrats want Trump out by (almost) any means necessary” — including assassination. Respondents were asked how they would feel if they woke up to several hypothetical headlines. Twenty-three percent of respondents said they would feel “very positive” if they saw a headline that said “President Donald Trump was assassinated while speaking at a rally.” Eight percent said they’d feel “somewhat positive” if they saw the news, while 25 percent said they had neither a positive nor negative reaction. Just 43 percent of respondents said they’d feel some degree of negativity if they saw the same news.

Democrats felt positively toward seeing a headline that read “President Donald Trump died overnight in his sleep,” with 45 percent of respondents saying they would feel “very positive” after reading the news and 10 percent feeling “somewhat positive.” Democrats were also in favor of seeing Trump removed from office via impeachment, a military coup, or the 25th Amendment. The poll was conducted on Sept. 3 and Sept. 8-10 and surveyed 683 Democrat voters. Perhaps then it’s unsurprising that Trump has been the target of several attempted assassinations with so much of the opposing party desensitized to (and even a fan of) political violence.
